Christmas Campaign 2020

When 100-year-old Elsie from Epsom was asked how the Coronavirus pandemic had affected her, her response was simple yet heart breaking, “It hasn’t really affected me, because unfortunately I am always on my own, so being on my own now is just normal.”

Let’s just think about that for a second. At a time when we have all struggled with loneliness due to the Coronavirus and being separated from our family and friends, we have members of our elderly community feeling no different!

During the first national lockdown of 2020, Age Concern Epsom & Ewell made over 5000 welfare calls to elderly residents within the Epsom & Ewell Borough. With the help from staff and volunteers, we were able to work together and provide nearly 500 of these residents with essential shopping and prescription deliveries. The importance of these calls has been highlighted and so we have since decided to continue providing welfare calls as standard practice for the foreseeable future.

Age Concern Epsom & Ewell’s dedicated and friendly team of staff and volunteers each play an important role in helping older people to feel less alone, whether that be our Information & Advice Officer assisting with a wide range of issues, our Home Visitor helping to fill out forms to claim financial assistance, our Social Coordinator to match clients with volunteer befrienders or our Volunteer Medical Transport Drivers. Age Concern Epsom & Ewell continues to be here for our older community and with your help we hope to be offering support for many more years to come.

Our 2020 Christmas Campaign is set to be our toughest campaign yet. With face-to-face fundraising at an indefinite halt, we need to call on those who support us in the local community for help. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” is the key message we want to communicate this Christmas and we know that our Epsom & Ewell community is at the heart of all that we have been able to achieve.

Would you be willing to offer Age Concern Epsom & Ewell a donation towards our Christmas Campaign?
